The Dungog Historical Society Inc operates a Museum based in the former School of Arts building for the purpose of ‘collecting, preserving and interpreting local history for everyone’. The Society’s functional objectives are: (1) to manage and operate the Museum; (2) to promote the collection, preservation, exhibition and interpretation of historical items of local interest, so that they are available to members of the public; (3) to promote local history; (4) to make local genealogical information available to the public; and (5) to fund raise for the above purposes. The Society was founded in 1963 and the Museum opened in 1968. |
