Media Legends

From the first editions of the Melbourne Advertiser, handwritten by John Pascoe Fawkner in 1838, to the current broadcast programs of today, great journalism has built, enriched and defended our democracy. It has helped rid the state of corrupt officials and incompetent governments, it has fought for positive social change and it has brought comfort to citizens in times of disaster.

This display celebrates those reporters, editors, broadcasters, photographers, cartoonists and commentators whose work has played a vital part in shaping Victorian and Australian society, and ensures their great legacy is shared, celebrated and remembered.

Presented in partnership with the Melbourne Press Club.
